Port of Brunswick remains US auto terminal number one
May 5, 2026 at 7:36 AMChapman Freeborn has successfully conducted a time-sensitive cargo charter, transporting oversized oil field equipment from China to Saudi Arabia. The transport was organized for a client in the oil and gas sector who urgently needed to replenish their operational inventory. The background involves ongoing global shipping delays and backlogs in air freight, which have impacted operational workflows.
The delivery included industrial pumps, precision spare parts, and oversized units measuring up to 8 meters in length. A total of 90 tons of cargo was transported using a Boeing 747 freighter, selected for its capacity to handle heavy and oversized loads.
Challenges in transport
The delivery of the cargo was not straightforward. Due to refueling restrictions at the original airport, the shipment had to be transported to an alternative domestic location first. The Chapman Freeborn team in China organized overnight truck transport and managed the entire freight disposition process to adhere to the schedule.
As the operation progressed, it remained challenging. Limited aircraft availability, route restrictions, and the coordination of slots at the destination increased pressure on the timeline. The team worked closely across locations to manage each phase and keep the flight on schedule.
The cargo arrived as planned, enabling immediate onward transport and helping the client avoid disruptions in ongoing operations.
Coordination and flexibility crucial
“This was a time-critical operation with multiple moving parts at different locations,” explained Ronny Samaey, Cargo Charter Manager at Chapman Freeborn. “From organizing the overnight transport in China to managing route restrictions and the final slot approval in Saudi Arabia, the teams worked around the clock to keep everything on schedule.”
Gerhard Coetzee, Vice President Cargo – IMEA at Chapman Freeborn, added: “Capacity remains tight in the current market, and projects like this require close coordination and flexibility at every stage. It is a strong example of how our global network and local expertise come together to deliver on critical timelines.”
