Jun 11, 2026 at 7:51 AMThe global logistics provider DSV has established a new air freight connection between Luxembourg and Indianapolis to optimize the logistics for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical products. This initiative aims to strengthen supply chains in healthcare and enhance efficiency in one of the fastest-growing logistics hubs for life sciences in the USA.
The new route, which operates through Indianapolis International Airport, is designed to minimize the time products spend in uncontrolled environments and reduce the complexity of active containers. This enables pharmaceutical companies to protect the integrity of their products while lowering overall costs, emissions, and operational uncertainties in critical transport routes.
Strengthening the global supply chain
The connection between Luxembourg and Indianapolis represents an important segment in the global pharmaceutical supply chain. By creating a predictable and scalable cold chain, the environmental impact is actively minimized through optimized handling and more sustainable thermal solutions. According to Kenneth Källström, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Healthcare at DSV, the Indianapolis service will play a central role in the global „Air ThermoDirect“ network. It aims to improve visibility and control over pharmaceutical production in the USA, Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Källström emphasizes that by strengthening these critical connections in the supply chain, life-saving therapies can be transported faster, more reliably, and with greater integrity, ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients worldwide. Stephanie Penarete, Vice President Air Product Americas at DSV, adds that the „Indy Wings“ initiative aims to place critical points in the supply chain under full accountability to ensure reliability and performance where it matters most.
