Jun 10, 2026 at 12:34 PMTerminal Marítima Mazatlán (TMAZ), a terminal operator belonging to Hanseatic Global Terminals on the Mexican Pacific coast, has initiated a restructuring of its leadership team to strengthen its strategic goals in growth and competitiveness. These changes occur in a context where ports are increasingly required to adapt to the demands of global logistics and supply chains.
As part of this realignment, TMAZ has appointed Carlos Alberto Balderas Acosta as the new head of Sales and Business Development. Additionally, Gerardo Monreal has been appointed as the new Operations Manager. These personnel decisions aim to solidify the company’s growth and strengthen its position in the Mexican port market.
According to a statement from TMAZ, Balderas‘ appointment is seen as a strategic step to intensify business development and collaboration with relevant production sectors. Balderas brings over 20 years of international experience from both the public and private sectors, particularly in logistics, port management, the automotive industry, and energy. He has worked on the development and implementation of sales strategies that are significant for cargo diversification and attracting new investments.
Continuity in operations management
The appointment of Gerardo Monreal to lead operations management is intended to further enhance the terminal’s efficiency. Monreal has been with TMAZ for nearly 14 years and has acquired extensive knowledge of port operations and user needs. His experience in coordinating processes and operational management is considered crucial to ensuring operational continuity and optimizing performance standards.
Mauricio Ortiz, the CEO of TMAZ, emphasized that these changes are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at consolidating key areas for the terminal company’s growth. “These new appointments reflect our commitment to further strengthening TMAZ’s leadership position in key business areas. We are confident that this new phase will enable us to move forward with greater stability and efficiency while focusing on the needs of our customers and the industry,” Ortiz stated.
With these personnel changes, TMAZ aims to expand its versatility as a multipurpose terminal and improve its responsiveness to the challenges of the port and logistics industry. The restructuring follows a successful year for TMAZ. In 2025, a total of 1,447,512 tons of cargo were handled, including over 172,000 vehicles and 654,000 tons of steel.
