May 29, 2026 at 8:34 AMRaffaele Latrofa (left), the President of the Port Authority (AdSP) of the Central and Southern Tyrrhenian Sea, which includes the Italian ports of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino, and Gaeta, has announced the appointment of Andrea Bottone as the new Managing Director of Port Authority Security S.r.l. Bottone was selected following a public tender initiated by the AdSP. This decision follows the resignation of the previous Managing Director, which was submitted in December 2025.
Financial situation and future challenges
During the assembly, the AdSP also approved the 2025 financial statements of PAS S.r.l., which concluded with a loss. Latrofa stated that the loss would be covered by equity reserves and that the financial situation had already been identified upon his taking office in November. He emphasized the need to achieve improvements in the upcoming fiscal year by strengthening management and operational planning.
Latrofa explained his decision to appoint Bottone, highlighting his extensive experience as a Managing Director of public companies. He chose a trusted individual whom he believes possesses the necessary expertise and organizational capability. The decision to initially limit the term to one year was made to concretely assess the results achieved.
The minutes of the assembly established clear guidelines for management, focusing on „economy, efficiency, administrative transparency, cost control, and service quality.“ The new Managing Director was also instructed to be regularly present on-site to ensure direct and continuous oversight of the company and its operational activities.
Key points emphasized by the AdSP include full compliance with the contract between AdSP and PAS, strengthening economic and financial control, regular reporting to the AdSP, and strict cost monitoring. Special attention will also be given to issues such as compliance, transparency, occupational safety, and anti-corruption.
The new Managing Director is also required to report on the economic and organizational state of the company within a reasonable timeframe after taking office and to present any issues and suggestions for improvement. However, the approved document clarifies that PAS „is not in a crisis situation,“ although it „operates with very low economic margins.“
