According to a company announcement, the contract has an expected value of over $10 billion and is intended to expand the already 25-year partnership between the two organizations. This agreement is expected to help DHL better position itself in the growing e-commerce market in the USA.
Expansion of services
Through its collaboration with USPS, DHL eCommerce claims it can optimally utilize its existing services in the first and middle mile. The company handles nationwide pickup and sorting of packages in its 19 fully automated hubs and organizes transportation through its air and ground network. Last-mile delivery is then carried out in cooperation with USPS, which covers a delivery network of over 41,550 ZIP codes and more than 170 million delivery points.
Scott Ashbaugh, CEO of DHL eCommerce Americas, emphasizes the benefits of this agreement: “This agreement creates a reliable, long-term platform for our customers. Partnering with USPS allows us to serve communities nationwide with high efficiency, minimize vehicle traffic, and support our commitment to reducing emissions.”
