May 29, 2026 at 10:23 AMThe Port Authority of Barcelona has announced the tender for the construction of a new road intersection with a budget of over 98 million euros. This measure aims to improve traffic connectivity in the southern area of the port and link the new access routes with the existing road network, as stated by the port.
New roundabout
The planned project includes the construction of a large elevated roundabout, which is to be built above the former mouth of the Llobregat River. This roundabout is intended to play a central role in the distribution of road traffic within the port, particularly towards the Prat wharf and the future Catalonia wharf. The new infrastructure is expected to facilitate vehicle mobility in this area.
The decision to issue the tender was made during the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Port of Barcelona. The construction work is scheduled to last three and a half years. According to the port authority, this measure responds to the increasing traffic demand that will arise from the expansion of port facilities and the creation of new access routes.
