Apr 23, 2026 at 12:03 PMThe Glasgow Prestwick Airport has recently announced the addition of three new weekly cargo flights with Ethiopian Airlines from Hong Kong. These flights, which will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, are intended to increase the e-commerce volume at the airport and position Prestwick as a significant cargo hub for Asian trade, according to the company.
Expansion of cargo services
Ian Forgie, CEO of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, commented on the new connections in the announcement, emphasizing that these flights represent an important step in scaling the airport’s e-commerce activities. Hong Kong will now be regarded as a central access point in Prestwick’s network.
The introduction of the new cargo flights comes in the context of a growing e-commerce market: Royal Mail and EVRi joined the airport earlier this year to handle 25 million e-commerce packages, which were processed through the airport’s e-commerce facility. According to the company, these developments have contributed to the creation of over 250 direct jobs in cargo services.
