Apr 14, 2026 at 12:12 PMThe Swedish company Thule, known for its transport equipment products for outdoor activities, plans to open a new automated warehouse in Krzyż Wielkopolski, Poland. This project is being realized in collaboration with the company Mecalux and aims to centralize the company’s European distribution. The new high-bay warehouse will have a capacity of 40,000 pallets and is part of a comprehensive strategy to optimize the supply chain, as Mecalux recently announced.
The decision to build the warehouse is aimed at consolidating Thule’s entire product range for the European market while also creating the opportunity to serve international markets. According to Paweł Pępiak, the head of the distribution center, the automation of logistics processes will help increase productivity and utilize warehouse space more efficiently. „Automation will impact cost efficiency and accelerate processes to provide better service and enhance customer satisfaction,“ said Pępiak.
Details on warehouse infrastructure
The new warehouse will be constructed in a silo design and will include racks with a width of 51 m, a length of 135 m, and a height of 42 m. Six automatic storage and retrieval machines, designed for double depth, will be used in the facility. The warehouse will also be equipped with a temperature and humidity control system. A pallet conveyor system is intended to connect the production site with the current manual warehouse.
