Sep 16, 2025 at 6:06 PMWebfleet, Bridgestone’s fleet management solution, and Peregrine.ai, a Berlin-based startup focused on transforming mobility through AI-powered visual systems, today announced the launch of a new, groundbreaking driver assistance solution. Peregrine’s visual intelligence complements and enhances the capabilities of the Webfleet Video solution – setting a new standard for safety in fleet management.
(Leipzig/Berlin) This paid service upgrade enables fleets to capture road situations and understand driving contexts while using Webfleet Video. Building on the already AI-supported features of Webfleet Video, the solution now also detects hazards such as red light violations, adverse weather conditions, slippery roads, and size and weight restrictions. The visual intelligence also translates video footage into structured, clear insights, allowing fleet managers to spend less time reviewing and interpreting footage and make informed decisions more quickly.
“This is a crucial step towards our goal of making mobility as safe and intelligent as possible,” says Jan-Maarten de Vries, President, Fleet Management Solutions at Bridgestone. “Together with Peregrine.ai, we are launching a brand-new driver safety solution that goes far beyond traditional dashcams. It detects road events and risks at the moment they occur and can accurately classify them using AI.”
While conventional video telematics usually only records when an event is triggered, this enhanced solution continuously detects hazards, providing the driver with real-time awareness of their surroundings. Visual data is translated into real-time alerts in the vehicle and actionable fleet insights. This way, drivers can avoid accidents, and fleets gain more safety, comply with regulations more easily, and operate more efficiently. Since the solution can also be easily retrofitted into existing vehicles via over-the-air updates, all these benefits can be achieved without having to invest in new vehicles.
“Our contextual AI is being brought directly and scalably to the road through this partnership,” adds Dr. Steffen Heinrich, CEO of Peregrine.ai. “The real-time insights make existing vehicles smarter. Fleets can operate more safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The system is scalable and already successfully in use.”
Creating Value Through Outstanding Quality
Through this cooperation, Bridgestone underscores its commitment to creating real value for society through outstanding quality. According to traffic safety economists, traffic accidents incur costs of up to 4.1% of the European gross domestic product (GDP). With the new service, Webfleet aims to reduce traffic risks, support ESG goals, strengthen driver retention, and better manage rising insurance and liability costs.
