At the football European Championship in Germany in the summer of 2024, STILL supported the setup and teardown at ten stadiums with a total of 80 electric forklifts. For this, STILL’s experts assembled a rental fleet that could cover a wide range of deployment scenarios, from heavy-duty operations with high lifting heights to detailed work in confined spaces. For each stadium, around 20,000 kilograms of steel structures had to be moved – sometimes at heights of more than five meters. Other forklift operations took place in the catacombs or underground garages of the stadiums. Here, particularly compact vehicles with minimal turning radius and excellent maneuverability were required.

In addition to the consulting expertise and experience of STILL experts, the extensive and versatile rental portfolio of more than 36,000 vehicles and the comprehensive network of 300 rental and service locations throughout the EMEA region were important success criteria for the collaboration. To manage the setup and teardown at ten different locations within a short time, high vehicle availability and short transport distances are essential.

This makes using the rental equipment particularly easy for employees. Especially if they already have experience with STILL vehicles, they can quickly operate the rental equipment without long training. All vehicles are currently maintained – and if a problem does arise, the STILL service team is on hand within a short time.

Individual configuration for a tailored usage experience

Especially in the context of large events, the deployment scenarios of the vehicles often exceed standard applications such as goods transport or the loading and unloading of materials. Therefore, STILL also offers the configuration of usage-specific special equipment for rental vehicles for more complex deployment cases, such as special tires, specific fork tines, or application-related attachments.

Thanks to STILL’s many years of experience in the rental business and recurring application cases, these can often be implemented within a very short time. For example, STILL, as the logistics partner of the Suzuki World Triathlon Hamburg last summer, provided eleven forklifts not only for setup and teardown but also as robust and attention-grabbing barriers at heavily frequented sections of the course. For this, STILL equipped the vehicles with special tires for changing and demanding ground conditions, enabling their use on soft ground in parks or green strips as well as on sensitive road surfaces, such as that of Hamburg’s Rathausmarkt.
