First electric distribution operation in Santiago
The new operation is based at the airport of the Chilean capital, Santiago, and spans various locations in the metropolitan area. The focus is on the last mile as well as the distribution of goods that originate directly from the airport. With this initiative, DSV reaffirms its commitment to responsible and efficient logistics that integrates modern technologies to reduce the ecological footprint without compromising operational reliability or service quality for customers.
The truck in use is an electric model from the manufacturer Yutong, specifically designed for urban logistics applications. Equipped with advanced energy technology, intelligent battery systems, and fast-charging capabilities, the vehicle allows for optimized operating times and improved energy efficiency in local distribution.
The range of the new vehicle is estimated to be between 220 and 300 km per charge. Additionally, the truck can be charged from 20% to 80% in less than an hour. These features help to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of urban distribution routes while simultaneously reducing emissions and lowering maintenance costs compared to conventional combustion engines.
Sustainable logistics solutions in focus
The introduction of this electric distribution solution responds to the growing demand for sustainable logistics options from customers and industries striving to minimize the environmental impact of their supply chains. In this context, DSV continues to develop initiatives that align with the company’s global sustainability goals and support the transition to more responsible transport models.
With this step in Chile, DSV reaffirms its vision to drive logistical innovation in Latin America. The company combines technological advancements, operational efficiency, and sustainability to strengthen its position as a strategic partner for modern transport and distribution operations.
