GREIWING Expands Collaboration with Westlake Vinnolit
Aug 15, 2024 at 5:21 PMAs the upcoming annual peak season in air freight approaches, DB Schenker has chosen cargo.one as a partner to establish digital direct connections to dozens of additional airlines worldwide. This expands the global logistics provider’s portfolio for accessing live capacities from nine to over 50 airlines in total. DB Schenker is now even better positioned to identify suitable capacities and rates for its customers’ ad-hoc shipments.
(Essen) Thorsten Meincke, Board Member for Air and Sea Freight, DB Schenker: “By establishing solutions that are in high demand in the market, we are further driving the digitalization of logistics. Our improved access to available airline capacities saves our customers time. We make processes faster, smoother, and more efficient for them. With cargo.one, we have found the ideal partner, as the company has extensive expertise in handling large amounts of data in real-time.”
Christa Koenen, Board Member for Information Technology and Digitalization (CIO/CDO), DB Schenker: “Every day, we advance the digitalization of supply chains. With over 150 years of experience, we focus on selecting the best providers to create new opportunities through innovation and technology. Efficiency gains through IT contribute to making the entire logistics industry more resource-efficient. The more airlines DB Schenker connects digitally, automating and optimizing processes, the better the offering for our customers. The concept is comparable to automated last-minute offers from airlines or travel agencies.”
Moritz Claussen, Founder and Co-CEO, cargo.one: “DB Schenker has chosen cargo.one to further accelerate its digital transformation. We are pleased to provide our new partner with a state-of-the-art procurement platform for air freight that enhances efficiency, accuracy, and user-friendliness. Thanks to cargo.one’s excellent infrastructure, DB Schenker can increase customer satisfaction and expand its competitive advantage.”
The demand for fast and short-term procurement of air freight capacities and market prices has gained relevance as disruptions in global supply chains have become the norm, while the transport demand in the e-commerce segment continues to rise. Therefore, since 2022, DB Schenker has already established nine direct API interfaces to airlines in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, and Asia.
More Efficiency Through Digital Scaling
Now, DB Schenker has opted for a partnership with cargo.one. The market-leading platform for brokering air freight capacities serves as a digital link between airlines and freight forwarders. Through the new cooperation, DB Schenker gains access to seamless bookings with over 50 airlines and will benefit from the further growth of the cargo.one network in the future.
DB Schenker’s digital infrastructure in the air freight business is based on an integrated IT landscape consisting of six systems. For customers, all processes are bundled in DB SCHENKER connect to obtain rate offers and view the current status of a shipment, for example. The new additional selection of spot capacities and freight routes is now available without changing the familiar user interface.
