LIP Invest Celebrates 5 Years of Passion for Logistics Real Estate
Jun 30, 2022 at 5:03 PMThe logistics service provider AsstrA is responding to the high return rate of empty containers by opening a three-hectare terminal in Poland, where up to 1,500 empty 40′ containers (3,000 TEU) can be stored. The warehouse is located in Malaszewicze, a major railway hub for traffic between the Far East and Europe, near the border with Belarus. This is also where the track gauge changes.
(Magdeburg) Over the past ten years, both exports from the European Union to China and imports from the Middle Kingdom to the EU have increased. However, the obvious imbalance between the import and export of goods has led to a buildup of empty containers waiting to be returned to Asia. This situation has resulted in rising prices for containers in the European market and increased customer demand for warehouses to store them. In response to the growing demand, AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG has introduced a new empty container storage service. The choice of location for the warehouse was not coincidental. Poland is a strategic point for rail deliveries, and the terminal in Malaszewicze is located next to four other main terminals: the terminal of the Polish State Railways (Polskie Koleje Państwowe Spółka Akcyjna, PKP SA, abbreviated as PKP), Agrostop, Adampol, and Europaport.
Track Delivery Processes with Ease
“The total area of the AsstrA terminal is 3 hectares. We store containers up to 1500 x 40 HC. Customers can easily track the entire delivery process, including the preparation of the necessary documentation. The service started in October 2021. Today, the average monthly number of empty containers is about 400, and the warehouse can accommodate up to 1,500 40-foot containers for storage,” shares Irina Topalova, head of the railway transport department for the EU and China regions at the AsstrA Group.
The Terminal is Secured
The terminal is secured and equipped with an HD surveillance system; safety and quality of services are inextricably linked to the company’s policy. The location of the storage area in the customs zone incurs no additional costs for customs services. AsstrA offers a service for the storage of empty containers at prices below the market rate. Plans for the coming years also include services for storing loaded containers.
