Mar 16, 2022 at 4:15 PMThe Logistics Real Estate Initiative (Logix) welcomes Dirk Landrock and Janine Zimmermann as new members of its voluntary board. With this personnel reinforcement, Logix aims to set new impulses for its activities in 2022. Planned activities include participation in the German Municipal Congress organized by the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB), a new publication on the topic of city logistics, and an overview work on logistics real estate trends and topics on the Logix website.
(Weiterstadt) The Logistics Real Estate Initiative (Logix) is strengthening its voluntary board and has gained Dirk Landrock, owner of the planning office Phase5, and Janine Zimmermann, Head of Logistics at Drees & Sommer SE, as new members. Both are expected to bring additional expertise to distribute the board’s workload and set new accents for the initiative’s work. As a result, the Logix board will grow from six to a total of eight members.
The trained architect Dirk Landrock is a co-founder of Phase 5 GmbH. Prior to this, he worked for several years as a project manager in the company and has been managing director since 2006. He is also solely responsible for the logistics division. Phase 5 is an internationally active architectural firm based in Düsseldorf and Berlin, specializing in general planning. The focus is on the industrial and logistics sector as well as residential, office, and commercial spaces.
“Logistics, and logistics real estate in particular, play a crucial role in the economy, prosperity, and the supply of the population. Their importance will further increase due to drivers like e-commerce and the ongoing expansion of regional supply. Therefore, it is all the more important to advocate for them in professional circles, as well as in municipalities and the general public. I am excited to actively support and promote this goal as a board member of the Logix Initiative,” says Dirk Landrock.
Logistics Real Estate Sector with Dynamics
Janine Zimmermann studied civil engineering and subsequently joined Drees & Sommer, the internationally active consulting company for the construction and real estate sector. After positions as a project manager and project partner at Drees & Sommer Leipzig GmbH, she has served as Head of Logistics since 2017. In 2021, she co-authored the sixth Logix publication “Logistics on the Last Mile. Real-Labor City,” the second edition of which was published in January 2022.
“The logistics real estate sector has the potential, due to its dynamics in recent years, to generate added value for municipalities, cities, and the population alongside its economic function. Consultants, developers, and planners already possess innovative real estate concepts that can play a key role in shaping urban change. It is therefore all the more important to create awareness of the capabilities of logistics real estate. Being able to drive this forward in the Logix board is a great opportunity that I highly welcome,” explains Janine Zimmermann.
Importance for the Logistics Real Estate Industry
With this personnel reinforcement, Logix is responding to its growing activities and the significance for the logistics real estate industry. Founded in 2013, the initiative plans a variety of projects for 2022. Among other things, Logix will participate for the first time in the German Municipal Congress organized by the DStGB on June 27-28, 2022, in Berlin. Around 800 municipal leaders from across the Federal Republic are expected to attend the conference, which takes place every four years. There will be an opportunity for exchange with delegates from state associations as well as with high-ranking municipal representatives.
Logix will also initiate a new project in the field of research and publication work and plans to publish its seventh publication. While the first publication “Logistics Real Estate – Key Points of the Supply Chain” established itself as a foundational paper on the topic of logistics real estate and logistics settlement projects, subsequent publications have dealt with current industry topics such as sustainability or city logistics. The new publication will primarily serve as a practical guide for municipalities in designing the logistical infrastructure of their city centers.
Overview of Logistics Real Estate Trends
Another project of the initiative will take place in digital form on the website: An overview work on logistics real estate trends and topics is in preparation. In this interactive format, expert authors will present and critically evaluate current topics in an easily understandable manner.
“Even in the award-free year 2022, Logix pursues the common goal of enhancing the reputation and appreciation of logistics real estate in the public eye. We have planned a variety of activities for this purpose and have also strengthened our team with two personalities from the logistics real estate sector,” says Dr. Malte-Maria Münchow, spokesperson for the Logistics Real Estate Initiative (Logix) and head of acquisition and sale of special real estate at Deka Immobilien Investment GmbH.
