Konecranes: automated crane technology for container terminals
May 26, 2026 at 3:29 PMGLS France has expanded its strategy to strengthen out-of-home (OOH) delivery by acquiring the Relais Colis network in France. With this acquisition, which includes nearly 7,000 pickup points, the company aims to enhance the quality of its service offerings and meet the growing demand for flexible delivery options. Additionally, 40 employees from Relais Colis will be integrated into the company, whose expertise is seen as a significant advantage for the implementation of the project.
The acquisition of Relais Colis, an established provider in the parcel delivery sector, includes the brand as well as the network of partner retailers. GLS intends to bring the pickup points closer to customers and address their increasing need for flexible delivery methods. The company plans to keep the Relais Colis network open to other transport service providers and business partners to enhance customer satisfaction.
Strategic expansion in Europe
According to GLS, this investment in both physical and digital infrastructure is a step towards strengthening its market position in Europe and improving the customer experience. Youssef Tagemouati, Managing Director of GLS France, commented on the acquisition: “The quality of the Relais Colis network convinced us. With thousands of partner retailers and a deep understanding of the market, we are confident that this acquisition represents a significant step forward.”
Karl Pfaff, Managing Director of the GLS Group, added that the expansion of the OOH network is a central component of the company’s strategy. By the end of April 2026, GLS’s European OOH network is expected to reach more than 140,000 pickup points and stations, representing a 42% increase compared to the previous year. This acquisition is intended to strengthen the presence in France and support the company’s ambitions to offer flexible and practical delivery solutions across Europe.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in summer 2026, pending regulatory approval. This measure is part of GLS’s long-term strategy to expand the OOH network in Europe and meet the growing demands of e-commerce. The French market presence will be further solidified by this acquisition, underscoring the company’s long-term goals in this important market.
