Air China Cargo has increased its order for the Airbus A350F to a total of ten aircraft. As the company announced on May 26, 2026, a purchase agreement for four additional A350F freighters has been signed. Previously, Air China Cargo had already ordered six A350F freighters in November 2025.
Strategic decision for fleet optimization
Wang Hongyan, Vice President of Air China Cargo, stated that this additional order represents a crucial strategic decision for the company to further optimize its fleet structure and expand its transport capacities. This enables better fulfillment of the demands of the international air freight market and lays a solid foundation for the long-term stable development of the company.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of Airbus for the commercial aircraft business, also expressed positive remarks regarding Air China Cargo’s decision to increase the order. He emphasized that this reflects the company’s confidence in Airbus products and reaffirms the leading position of the A350F as the next-generation freighter.
Air China Cargo began introducing Airbus freighters at the end of 2023 and currently operates a fleet of eight Airbus A330-200P2F. In the near future, the A350F freighter will complement the fleet and maximize the advantages of the A330-200P2F freighters on long-haul and medium to long-haul routes.
Technical features of the A350F
The A350F is designed as the world’s most advanced freighter and meets the evolving demands of the global air freight market. With a range of up to 8,700 km and a payload of up to 111 tons, it allows operators to deploy it on international long-haul routes. The A350F is made of over 70% advanced materials and is 46 tons lighter than comparable aircraft.
Powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the aircraft offers a reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions of up to 20% compared to previous generations with similar payload-range capacity. Additionally, the A350F is the only freighter to fully meet the ICAO CO₂ emissions standards for 2027. Upon entry into service, the A350F can operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the goal of achieving a capacity of up to 100% by 2030, as is also aimed for all Airbus aircraft.
By the end of April 2026, the A350F had recorded a total of 101 orders from 14 customers.
