The ASTRE Europe has gained its first member in the Republic of Ireland with the Toga Freight Group. This expansion of the Europe-wide network of independent transport and logistics companies aims not only to strengthen ASTRE’s position but also to provide members and their customers access to a strategically important market. Additionally, the connection to the British Isles is improved, which particularly opens up new opportunities in international groupage and project business for ASTRE DACH members.
The Toga Freight Group is based in Dublin and comprises several logistics companies, including Toga Freight Services Ltd, Toga Customs Services Ltd, as well as Toga Freight UK and Irish Sea Logistics Ltd. The company offers a comprehensive range of services in the areas of international transport, customs clearance, and grouped freight traffic.
Strategic Advantages of Membership
Robert Dickinson, CEO of the Toga Group, explains: “By joining ASTRE Europe, we enable our customer base in the UK and Ireland to access tailored import and export solutions while simultaneously increasing our efficiency in Europe-wide groupage distribution and cross-trade.” This membership creates a seamless network structure for transport to and from Ireland within the cooperation, which is intended to strengthen traffic flows between continental Europe and the British Isles.
In recent years, the Toga Group has significantly expanded its presence in Europe and serves a dense partner network with regular traffic across the continent. Membership in ASTRE is seen as a strategic step that allows for deeper integration. This includes access to digital services, tender support, sustainability initiatives, and joint purchasing structures. A particular focus is on developing efficient logistics solutions in the post-Brexit environment as well as tapping into potential in cross-border groupage logistics and complex customs requirements.
