Dec 12, 2024 at 8:02 PMThe previous overall project manager and board member of Gateway Basel Nord AG, Martin Haller, will resign effective December 31, 2024. Firat Günes and Raven Schäfer will take over his positions. After nine years as a board member and overall project manager of Gateway Basel Nord AG, Martin Haller will step down on December 31, 2024, but will remain with the company as a Senior Advisor for specific topics.
(Basel) “His tireless commitment and visionary leadership have significantly shaped Gateway Basel Nord AG. We deeply regret his departure, but we are pleased with the numerous successes we have achieved together. We are very glad that he will remain connected to our company as a Senior Advisor for specific topics and wish him all the best for his future career,” says Renzo Capanni, Chairman of the Board of Gateway Basel Nord.
Starting in January 2025, Firat Günes, Head of Sales at SBB Cargo, will take over the position of board member. The industrial engineer and business economist has many years of experience in rail freight transport in Switzerland and internationally and will further develop the business strategy: “Gateway Basel Nord is a century project, and I am very excited to move the company forward with all supporters.”
Continuity for the Project Ensured
The operational leadership will be taken over simultaneously by Raven Schäfer, who has been responsible for financing, procedural management, and planning at Gateway Basel Nord AG since the project’s inception. With the appointment of the trained economist as managing director and overall project manager, continuity for the project is ensured. “The creation of a trimodal transshipment terminal is urgently needed so that we can offer climate-friendly and efficient freight transport in Basel. I will continue to advocate for this!”
