May 27, 2026 at 9:03 AMOne day after the increase of an existing order from Air China Cargo, Hong Kong’s Cathay Group has placed a firm order for two additional Airbus A350F freighters. This raises the total number of orders from the Hong Kong airline to eight units of this new freighter. The A350F will be operated by the airline’s cargo division, Cathay Cargo, and are expected to enhance efficiency within the company’s extensive network.
Ronald Lam, Chief Executive of the Cathay Group, commented on the order: „We are pleased to further strengthen our fleet with these additional A350F freighters, which will provide better connectivity at our home hub and more options for our customers. This strategic investment demonstrates our firm confidence in our long-term growth forecasts and supports Cathay Cargo’s goal of being the world’s best air freight provider.“
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President Sales of Airbus for the commercial aircraft business, emphasized the significance of the A350F: „Cathay’s continued support for the A350F is a strong signal that this freighter brings a new generation of capacity and efficiency. The A350F will be seamlessly integrated into the airline’s existing Airbus fleet and will accelerate the airline’s decarbonization process.“
The A350F has been designed as the world’s most advanced freighter and meets the evolving demands of the global air freight market. With a range of up to 8,700 km and a payload of up to 111 tons, the aircraft is suitable for international long-haul flights. Additionally, it is made of over 70% advanced materials and is 46 tons lighter than comparable aircraft.
