Europe’s air freight shrinks in March
May 13, 2026 at 2:01 PMGeorges, a company in the digital industrial laundry sector, has chosen the software solution from the French IT service provider Kardinal to optimize the planning of its weekly 120 routes across France. This partnership aims to fundamentally improve the logistics for the collection and delivery of workwear.
Complex logistical challenges
Founded in 2017 in Bordeaux, Georges has established itself as a provider for the comprehensive management of workwear. The company handles the entire lifecycle of work clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) for renowned clients such as Air France, EDF, and SNCF. Each year, Georges processes around 2 million garments and serves 85,000 wearers at nearly 4,000 delivery points. The logistics are characterized by strict regulations and specific customer requirements that necessitate precise route planning.
Before the introduction of Kardinal, route planning was based on manual work with Google Maps. This method was time-consuming and not scalable, as creating a route plan could take up to three days. Additionally, adapting to unforeseen events was not possible, which significantly impaired the efficiency of operations.
Demand-oriented solution
To improve logistical processes, Georges conducted a comprehensive market analysis. The requirements for the software were high: it needed to consider personnel costs for the routes, include toll costs, and manage specific customer time constraints. Kardinal was identified as the most suitable solution. The quality of the initial presentation and the responsiveness of the team were crucial for the selection. In the first weeks after implementation, Kardinal adapted the software to the specific needs of Georges. This included accounting for toll fees, avoiding ferry connections in the Gironde, and adjusting to individual driving time restrictions.
Mickaël Ott, Logistics Manager at Georges, stated: “Optimizing our routes is not just about the most cost-effective route. We need to consider a variety of requirements, including customer times and specific access conditions. With Kardinal, we are now able to integrate all these factors into our planning.”
Rapid implementation and measurable success
The implementation of Kardinal took place within a month and included a testing phase to validate the solution. Today, a single planner manages the routes for all ten locations, while the site managers take care of daily operational control. The results are clear: the time required to plan a route has been reduced from three days to just half a day. This leads to a better distribution of the route load and allows drivers to complete their work within the allotted time.
The software also enables planners to make adjustments to the delivery points, preserving the knowledge of the on-site teams while leveraging the algorithmic intelligence of Kardinal.
Outlook on future developments
The introduction of Kardinal directly supports Georges‘ growth strategy. The opening of a new location in Clermont-Ferrand in May 2026 highlights this development. Kardinal has already contributed to sizing the required fleet and staff and modeled the redistribution of routes from the Lyon site to the new location.
Cédric Hervet, co-founder of Kardinal, emphasizes: “Georges exemplifies the logistical challenges faced by service providers with high operational demands. We are proud that Kardinal not only increases efficiency in daily operations but also supports the future development of the company.”
