May 13, 2026 at 1:47 PMThe vegetable packaging facility of L’Atelier des Producteurs, a subsidiary of Fermes Larrère, in Liposthey, southwestern France, has entrusted the management of its wooden pallets to the European company IPP. Annually, 115,000 pallet movements are carried out from the semi-automated washing and packaging station to large retailers.
According to forecasts from IPP, pallet rental could gain an additional market share of 20 to 30% in the European market for Euro pallets and disposable pallets by 2030. In light of this growth target, the company plans to double its revenue in Europe to 500 million EUR by that time.
Sustainable logistics solutions
L’Atelier des Producteurs utilizes the services of IPP. The family-owned business has been operating in the Landes department since 1958 and specializes in the production of vegetables, including carrots, cabbage, sweet potatoes, and asparagus. On an area of 1,960 hectares, of which 50% is farmed organically, Fermes Larrère controls the entire production cycle, from cultivation to distribution to supermarkets, wholesalers, and processors. At the Liposthey site, the harvests are washed, sorted, and prepared for shipping. The facility employs around 100 staff and is equipped with optical sorting machines and automated packaging machines.
To manage seasonal fluctuations and peak activity, L’Atelier des Producteurs has transferred the management of its pallet flows to IPP. Anthony Lafargue, packaging manager at L’Atelier des Producteurs, explains: “Based on our values, we operate with a logic that combines economic performance and environmental protection. The circular model of pallet rental fits perfectly with this philosophy.” IPP supplies the pallets, which are loaded with vegetables and then shipped to retailers. After the products arrive at retail, the pallets are picked up by IPP, sorted, repaired if necessary, and reintroduced into circulation. Michael Karadjinov, sales manager for France at IPP, emphasizes: “Thanks to quality controls, our pallets have an average lifespan of about ten years and meet all requirements.”
Efficient pallet management
In addition to the circular aspect, L’Atelier des Producteurs highlights the simplicity of the system. “Every week, we estimate our pallet needs through the IPP platform. On Fridays, we report the movements carried out. Additionally, we only conduct two inventory checks per year,” Lafargue explains. The facility uses pallets in the sizes of 80×120 and 60×80 cm, resulting in a total of 115,000 movements per year. IPP and L’Atelier des Producteurs maintain a long-term trust relationship. “We engage in transparent and constructive discussions that allow us to support the growth of Fermes Larrère,” concludes Karadjinov.
