Jun 1, 2026 at 2:35 PMAccording to the latest report from ACT Research on the market for used trucks in classes 3 to 8, there has been a decline in retail sales of used Class 8 vehicles in the United States. The decline was 3.3% compared to the previous month, which is not considered alarming. Steve Tam, Vice President of ACT Research, explained that this decline is in line with seasonal trends but is not as pronounced as the expected seasonal drop of 11%.
Market development in April
April is considered by Tam to be the sixth strongest sales month of the year, with sales figures 2% below average. Tam pointed out that the auction and wholesale markets showed different developments in April. Auction volumes fell by 52% compared to the previous month, which is typically observed in the first month of a quarter. In contrast, wholesaler activity increased by 6.1% compared to the previous month. Overall, the sales volume of the same dealers in April was 23% lower than in the previous month.
