Maersk launches “FI2 Service” between East Asia and India
May 26, 2026 at 10:45 AMWelcome Airport Services has opened a new terminal for cargo handling at Warsaw Airport (WAW). Terminal Cargo 3, which has been added to the existing Cargo 2 facility, offers an area of 3,000 m² and is connected to the previous terminal via a walkway.
Expansion of storage capacities
With the opening of Cargo 3, Welcome Cargo’s previous storage area doubles to a total of 6,500 m² at Chopin Airport. The new hall is fully air-conditioned, providing an additional advantage for the storage of temperature-sensitive goods. Radosław Żuk, Vice President of Welcome Airport Services, emphasizes: “The opening of the new Cargo 3 building is an important development step for us. Thanks to the new infrastructure, we can offer our customers a larger, modern storage area and thus create more comfortable conditions for handling.”
The demand for cargo handling at Poland’s largest airport has increased in recent years. According to Welcome, the cargo volume processed in 2025 has risen by over 20% compared to the previous year. The new hall is intended to expand the company’s operational capabilities and enable faster and more efficient handling of goods.
Planned expansions
In addition to the opening of Cargo 3, the largest terminal, Cargo 4, will also be put into operation this year. This terminal is located on Kinetyczna Street and will increase the storage area to a total of 16,500 m². Construction is already complete; only the finishing of the necessary infrastructure to connect Cargo 4 to the airport remains.
The expansions of storage capacities are part of Welcome Airport Services‘ strategy to meet the growing demands of the market and improve service quality for customers.
