Increased traffic in South Africa’s ports
May 20, 2026 at 1:40 PMThe US real estate developer CenterPoint has continued its expansion in Atlanta with the acquisition of another property of 24,688 m² in the Airport South submarket. The fully leased warehouse, known as Clayton Technology Center, was built in 2024.
Roy Rosenbaum, Senior Vice President of Investments at CenterPoint for the Eastern region, emphasizes the significance of the location: “It would be nearly impossible to replicate the location of Clayton, given the limited land and the extensive permitting process in Airport South.” He adds that the investment strategy in Atlanta aims to focus on Class A properties with solid tenants, top-notch specifications, and excellent transportation access. “Clayton Tech meets all these criteria,” says Rosenbaum.
Strategic Location and Features
Thomas Howard, Investment Officer at CenterPoint for the Eastern region, highlights the advantages of the Clayton Technology Center: “This is a premier facility located in the geographic center for our creditworthy tenant to support its operations in the Southeast USA.” The property offers immediate access to Atlanta’s major thoroughfares, including I-675, which is just one mile away. Howard describes the efficient design of the warehouse with a height of nearly 11 m, 60 loading docks, and ample parking for cars and trailers as difficult to replicate in a submarket with limited development opportunities and rising occupancy.
Since entering the local market in the second quarter of 2025, CenterPoint has acquired five Class A distribution facilities and invested over $200 million. Last month, the company acquired a 23,300 m² Class A warehouse in Cartersville, GA, in the first of two consecutive transactions with Transwestern.
CenterPoint’s portfolio in the Eastern region now includes 102 properties with a total area of over 2.183 million m² in New York/New Jersey, Lehigh Valley, PA, Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Atlanta, and South Florida.
