Demand for officers rises worldwide by 2030
Jun 26, 2026 at 9:08 AMPSA Intermodal Italy and Logtainer signed an agreement with Interporto Padova on Tuesday, marking the start of the construction phase for the intermodal terminal project in Padua. This agreement follows the awarding of the contract in December 2025 and represents the transition to the concrete implementation of the project, as stated by Interporto Padova.
The two companies have acquired a 70 percent stake in Intermodal Terminal Padova srl. The new board of directors consists of Roberto Ferrari, who will serve as chairman, Kim Puay Terence Lee, and Pascal Willy J. Reinards. On the side of Interporto Padova, Managing Director Roberto Tosetto and his deputy Paolo Pandolfo are represented on the board.
Strategic objectives of the project
The main objective of this initiative is to strengthen Padua’s role as an important logistics hub within the major European freight and intermodal corridors. According to the company, this is in line with PSA’s Node-to-Network (N2N) strategy. Additionally, connectivity between inland terminals, seaports, and international transport networks is to be improved.
In the new structure, PSA Intermodal Italy takes the majority stake and operational responsibility for PSA Padova. Interporto Padova remains involved with a minority stake to ensure local anchoring. The project is expected to benefit from the global network of the PSA Group, which includes ports, inland terminals, and logistics solutions. Furthermore, an integrated approach to logistics flow management will be introduced in Padua. Logtainer is to contribute its expertise in multimodal transport and rail transport in Italy to enhance the terminal’s intermodal service offering and improve its efficiency and competitiveness.
