The Descartes Systems Group recently announced the acquisition of Idelic, Inc. Idelic is a developer of AI-driven solutions focused on driving safety and performance management. With this acquisition, Descartes expands its „Global Logistics Network“ (GLN) to include a telemetry and accident database. The integration of Idelic’s technologies is intended to complement Descartes‘ existing route planning and control technology, as the company states.
Expansion of safety management functions
Idelic’s Safety-Intelligence platform combines various aspects of safety management, such as training, monitoring, reporting, and coaching, into a single system. This platform utilizes an AI-driven analysis workflow aimed at influencing the driving behavior of personnel. Fleet operators are expected to identify potential risks and take measures to mitigate them. Idelic relies on a dataset that includes over 64 billion telemetry miles and more than 400,000 accident records. The platform captures detailed event-related data in real-time from a connected system that integrates over 80 telematics, risk management, and regulatory systems.
