Apr 22, 2026 at 9:59 AMGEODIS has announced the opening of its first specialized cold chain cross-dock facility in America. The new facility is located in Chicago, Illinois, and covers an area of 7,000 square feet. A notable part of the facility is the 5,200 square foot temperature-controlled annex, specifically designed for the storage and handling of healthcare products. This facility will serve as a key hub in GEODIS’s logistics network, providing services for pharmaceutical air and ocean exports as well as imports, the company states.
According to GEODIS, the choice of Chicago as the location is strategic, as the city is considered a significant gateway to the U.S. market. The cross-dock facility is situated near O’Hare International Airport, making it a high-speed hub for global air and sea freight traffic. This location allows GEODIS to maintain control over temperature-sensitive healthcare cargo as it is transported through the company’s global network.
