Apr 16, 2026 at 7:19 AMThe Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has appointed Moses Wekesa as the new Managing Director and CEO, effective April 14, 2026. This decision follows a comprehensive selection process in which Wekesa was identified as the suitable leader to advance KAA’s ambitious goals.
Wekesa brings extensive experience from various economic sectors in Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and Africa. Previously, he served as the Director of Business Development at KenGen, where he led the growth of the company’s core business. His expertise also extends to the infrastructure sector, enabling him to further develop Kenya’s aviation infrastructure.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Applied Mechanics) from the University of Nairobi (UON). Additionally, he has postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Valuation, and Project Planning from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.
Wishes for a successful tenure
The KAA Board wishes Wekesa much success in his new role and expresses gratitude to Dr. Mohamud Gedi, the KAA General Manager Finance, for his dedicated service as Acting Managing Director. The Board highlights the smooth transition, particularly regarding the accelerated modernization initiatives of the KAA aimed at enhancing the sector’s contribution to the Kenyan economy.
The KAA continues to implement transformative initiatives, including the modernization and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), to strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional aviation and logistics hub.
