Apr 16, 2026 at 2:01 PMAmazon has announced the construction of a new distribution center in Ensisheim, located in the French department of Haut-Rhin. The project involves an investment volume of over 250 million EUR and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The new distribution center will be equipped with modern robotic technologies and is part of Amazon’s efforts to expand its logistics network in France and Europe.
The establishment of Amazon in Ensisheim is considered a significant step for the economic development of the Grand Est region. Since 2010, Amazon has invested over 1.5 billion EUR in this region and already employs more than 4,000 staff in permanent positions. These employees work at an existing distribution center in Augny as well as at two delivery sites in Woippy and Strasbourg.
Economic impulses for the region
Michel Habig, Mayor of Ensisheim and President of the Community of Municipalities Centre Haut-Rhin, expressed positive sentiments about the project: “The arrival of Amazon in Ensisheim is a strong signal for our area. The creation of 2,000 jobs in the coming years represents a significant opportunity for our citizens and the local economy.” Habig also emphasized the long-term benefits for the municipality and the associated tax revenues.
Patrick Labarre, President of Amazon France Logistics, stated that the company is proud to expand in the Grand Est region. “We look forward to advancing our development in collaboration with local stakeholders in Ensisheim to ensure that this establishment benefits the residents,” said Labarre.
By expanding its logistics network, Amazon also supports the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region. According to the consulting firm Keystone, Amazon’s investments in 2024 have generated more than 4,500 indirect jobs in Grand Est. Many SMEs utilize Amazon’s platform to distribute their products and gain access to millions of customers in France and internationally.
