Mar 3, 2026 at 11:27 AMWorldwide Flight Services (WFS) has successfully completed the acquisition of Aviapartner Cargo NV at Brussels Airport. The transaction has now received full approval from the relevant authorities and will expand WFS’s service offerings in Brussels. The new services include, among others, the handling of cargo aircraft, towing of aircraft, and transport services on the airport premises. As part of the agreement, over 200 employees from Aviapartner Cargo will transition to WFS.
The acquisition is part of WFS’s strategy to enhance its presence and investments in the Belgian air freight market. The company already opened its own branch in Brussels in 1992, providing warehouse handling for more than 50 airlines across two facilities with a total area of nearly 30,000 m². Additionally, WFS is also active in Liège, where it provides ramp and warehouse handling for twelve airlines as well as for Cainiao, a global provider in e-commerce logistics.
Aviapartner has a 75-year history in cargo handling at Brussels Airport and offers, among other services, warehousing for freight forwarders. As part of the acquisition, WFS will take over Aviapartner Cargo’s 33,000 m² cargo terminal at the airport, which includes two dedicated areas for handling pharmaceutical products, a phytosanitary inspection point, and specialized services for mail and courier services. Aviapartner will continue to provide ground handling services for passenger airlines as well as for business and private aviation at Brussels Airport.
This development will further strengthen WFS’s product offerings in Belgium by expanding capacities on the airport premises and enhancing access to ramps and transport options for cargo. Philippe Torry, Managing Director of WFS Belgium, commented on the acquisition: „We are pleased to have completed this acquisition and to bring more capacity, customers, and expertise into the WFS operation at Brussels Airport. The addition of cargo and ramp handling to our portfolio in Brussels will also increase our growth opportunities with both existing and new customers.“
