Jul 1, 2026 at 4:05 PMPJ Monitoring has commissioned a new digital manufacturing hall for the WaggonTracker system at its production site in Graz. With this state-of-the-art facility, the Austrian company responds to the increasing demand for intelligent train functions, particularly the Automatic Brake Test. The new manufacturing hall is intended not only to increase production capacities but also to optimize quality assurance.
Expanded production capacities and quality assurance
The new manufacturing hall features digital work instructions that accompany each assembly step. This enables seamless traceability of each WaggonTracker throughout its entire product lifecycle. Additionally, each manufactured system box undergoes a 48-hour outgoing test, simulating various real operating conditions. These measures are designed to ensure that the products meet high-quality standards.
Another advantage of the new production line is its scalability and flexibility. The modular design allows for short setup times and quick changes between different projects. The final approval of the WaggonTracker box is carried out paperlessly via a digital protocol, which can be accessed through a tablet and QR code.
Günter Petschnig, CEO of PJ Monitoring, emphasizes:
“The expansion of production capacity and quality standards was a logical step. More and more wagon renters and owners are relying on the benefits of our digital train functions. With the new production facility, we create a seamless transition between digital manufacturing and the rugged railway operation.”
Strategic realignment and personnel growth
The move to the new hall allows PJ Monitoring to use the previous manufacturing hall exclusively for development and prototype construction. This is part of a strategic realignment aimed at addressing the ongoing growth of the company. In the past 1.5 years, PJ Monitoring has also strengthened its team in the areas of software and safety development. To meet the increased demands, additional modern office spaces have been acquired in the nearby Science Tower.
Founded in 2017 and previously operating as part of PJ Messtechnik, PJ Monitoring specializes in the digitalization and automation of rail freight transport. With a research and development quota of 21% and an export quota of 96%, the company is well-positioned to tackle market challenges and offer innovative solutions.
