Jan 6, 2026 at 1:56 PMAir Transport Services Group, Inc. (ATSG) has appointed Greg Mays as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. This decision took effect on January 1, 2026. Mays succeeds Mike Berger, who is retiring but will remain in an advisory role at ATSG to ensure a smooth transition during part of 2026.
Greg Mays, who was appointed President of ATSG in September 2025, brings extensive experience from the aviation industry. In his previous role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Sun Country Airlines, he led the company through phases of change and performance improvement. Prior to that, he worked at Alaska Airlines, where he significantly contributed to strengthening the areas of maintenance, engineering, and labor relations. Additionally, Mays spent over a decade at Delta Air Lines, overseeing complex global operations in maintenance, ground handling, and cargo.
In an initial statement, Mays said, „I am honored to be named the next leader of ATSG. I look forward to building on the solid foundation that Mike has established during his tenure. I am excited to continue working with our talented teams in my new role as we advance ATSG’s capabilities with a clear focus on safety, operational and financial excellence, and top-notch service.“
Mike Berger, who has been with ATSG since 2018 and has held various leadership positions, including Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, expressed pride in the successes achieved together and confidence in the company’s future under Mays‘ leadership. „It has been an absolute privilege to lead ATSG and work with one of the best teams in the industry. I am proud of everything we have accomplished together and am confident that ATSG has a promising future under Greg’s leadership,“ said Berger.
ATSG is a provider of aircraft leasing and air cargo transport solutions for national and international airlines, as well as for companies that utilize outsourced air cargo services. The company is recognized as a global leader in freighter aircraft leasing and operates a fleet that includes Boeing 767, Airbus A321, and Airbus A330, among others.
