For three days, Miami Beach was the international marketplace for intermodal logistics solutions. On November 10, the air cargo forum & transport logistic Americas concluded with a well-attended career day for young professionals.
(Munich/Miami) “The future of logistics lies in cross-modal thinking in the supply chain. In close collaboration with Messe München, we have developed an international platform for knowledge exchange and business contacts around our established air cargo forum with the transport logistic Americas. We are more than satisfied with the results and appreciate the feedback from our members and exhibitors,” says TIACA Chairman Steven Polmans. The event duo air cargo forum & transport logistic Americas, which takes place in even years, has secured its place in the international trade fair scene. It is the only intermodal trade fair in the United States.
Most exhibitors from the USA
Globally, logistics is suffering from bottlenecks and challenges. Geopolitical conditions and climate change are exacerbating the situation. What matters are customer-oriented solutions, digitization, operational efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. With 220 exhibitors in eleven sectors, the fair presented international partners for intermodal supply chains. Among the exhibitors and visitors, the USA was the most represented. Among international exhibitors, Germany with 47 exhibitors, Canada with 15 exhibitors, and Italy and the United Kingdom with eleven exhibitors each took the top three spots.
“The fair is ideally located in Miami. European and German companies find particularly quick access to business partners in the USA and all of America here. We experienced the fair as a melting pot for personal contacts. Intercontinental business relationships for resilient logistics chains have emerged,” says Oliver Luksic, who accompanied a delegation with a joint stand under the initiative “Your German Logistics” as Parliamentary State Secretary from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport.
Three-quarters of visitors were decision-makers
With a total of 5,900 visitors from 78 countries, the air cargo forum & transport logistic Americas achieved its ambitious goal. 70 percent of the visitors came from the American continent, with 60 percent from the USA and Canada. Among international visitors, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Brazil were at the forefront. More than three-quarters of the visitors were decision-makers at C-level or executives. At the very well-attended conference, which took place in parallel with the fair, 90 leading industry representatives participated in 22 sessions.
Turhan Özen, Chief Cargo Officer at Turkish Airlines: “We are pleased to have participated in the air cargo forum. This event brings aviation professionals from around the world and top speakers together. Thanks to the sessions and presentations that illuminated every aspect of aviation individually, we received a lot of new information and explored significantly more effective solutions over the three days. We not only expanded our business network but also explored new business opportunities.”
Tobias König, Co-CEO, Rhenus Air & Ocean, adds: “Our participation as an exhibitor at the air cargo forum & transport logistic Americas opened many doors for us in the American market. Relevant decision-makers from various industries and transport modes were present for targeted business discussions. The fair was a perfect platform for us to present our global brand, connect with potential customers, and network with logistics partners across the region to showcase our global capabilities.”
Joint stands were well received
Driven by the experience of Messe München, the joint stands were particularly well received. Four small and medium-sized enterprises presented themselves at the start.hub logistics. Logistics regions such as Miami, Apulia, or countries like Germany consolidated access to new contacts. At the career day and in special sessions, the industry demonstrated how diverse the career opportunities in logistics are for newcomers and career changers, or specifically for women.
Sustainable impetus for future development
“With a doubling of the exhibition space and almost a tripling of the number of visitors compared to the previous event in 2018 in Toronto, not only was the importance of trade fairs after the pandemic impressively demonstrated, but also a sustainable impetus for future development was given,” adds Polmans. “The trade fair duo is evolving into a workspace for international encounters and a place where solutions for intermodal logistics chains are developed together,” says Dr. Robert Schönberger, Director of transport logistic exhibitions at Messe München.
