Apr 17, 2026 at 8:22 AMOn May 1, 2026, Holger Banik will take over the management of Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG (JWP-M). He succeeds Marc-Oliver Hauswald, whose contract is expiring. Hauswald has been managing the company since August 2023.
Banik, a native of Bremen, brings extensive experience in the Lower Saxony port landscape. Since January 1, 2014, he has been the managing director of JadeWeserPort Realisierungs GmbH & Co. KG as well as Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG. After completing his training as an industrial clerk and studying business administration in Marburg and Gießen, Banik gained extensive leadership experience in rail freight transport at Deutsche Bahn AG between 1996 and 2007. He worked in various areas such as finance, controlling, and planning. In 2007, he moved to the port management company bremenports GmbH & Co. KG, where he took over the commercial management in 2011.
Focus on marketing and development
In his new role, Banik will also be responsible for the marketing of the port as well as settlement management and the development of areas in the freight transport center at JadeWeserPort. The Lower Saxony Minister of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JWP-M, Grant Hendrik Tonne, spoke positively about the seamless transition in management. He praised Hauswald’s work during a crucial phase for the port location and emphasized Banik’s extensive expertise in the maritime economy. Tonne sees Banik as an experienced port manager who is well acquainted with the historical and current contexts at JadeWeserPort.
Banik himself expressed optimism about the upcoming tasks. He emphasized that the overall responsibility of the two JadeWeserPort companies will be consolidated and that the location is in a growth trend. With this momentum, he aims to further advance the settlement development in the freight transport center.
