SolitAir launches route to Tianjin
Jul 13, 2026 at 7:36 AMThe electric mobility-focused company New Energy Transport (NET) has recently received its first electric heavy-duty truck, the Volvo FH. The handover took place at the port of Sydney and was celebrated in the presence of representatives from NET, Volvo Trucks, and Unilever. Unilever has established itself as a founding customer of NET and will use the new truck for transporting consumer goods in the region, as reported by Volvo Trucks.
First step towards electrification
The Volvo FH is the first of a total of eleven electric trucks that NET plans to put into operation within the next twelve months. This initiative is supported by a partnership between Volvo Financial Services and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), aimed at reducing the leasing costs for heavy electric trucks in Australia. From now on, the truck will be in commercial use for Unilever, transporting products daily from the distribution center in Ingleburn to various customers in Sydney.
With this partnership, Unilever is set to become one of the first major consumer goods companies in Australia to utilize electric trucks, according to Volvo Trucks. The announcement follows NET’s rapid deployment plan, which is supported by an initial equity increase of 5 million dollars. This funding was provided by the Jekara Group and facilitated by Pollination. NET plans to deploy a total of 20 electric trucks and six mobile charging units on Australian roads by the end of 2026.
