Jul 2, 2026 at 7:54 AMThe US logistics provider Schneider National, Inc. has announced significant changes in its corporate leadership, effective July 1, 2026. Jim Filter (far left) will assume the position of President and CEO, as announced five months earlier. The multimodal provider of transportation, intermodal, and logistics services aims to enhance its focus on customer service and operational efficiency through this restructuring.
Filter, who has been with Schneider for over 27 years, will take the helm as an experienced leader. He emphasizes that the newly structured organization will help maintain the company’s agility and foster close relationships with customers. “Our strategy empowers responsible leaders and engaged teams to accelerate growth and enhance efficiency,” Filter stated.
New leadership team and responsibilities
As part of the restructuring, two Executive Vice Presidents will be appointed, each responsible for key business areas. Michael Baumgardt (second from left) will serve as EVP for Intermodal & Logistics and report directly to Filter. Baumgardt has been with Schneider since 2001 and has gained extensive experience in various leadership roles, including customer service and network management.
Steve Wells (second from right) will join Schneider as EVP for Truckload, also under Filter’s leadership. Wells comes from Cowan Systems LLC, a subsidiary of Schneider, where he most recently served as President. With over 27 years of industry experience, he has previously held various leadership positions in fleet management and sales.
Additionally, Angela Prill (far right) has been promoted to Senior Vice President for Intermodal Operations. Prill brings over 15 years of supply chain experience and has proven herself in various leadership roles at Schneider, including in Intermodal Network Management.
The decisions regarding the restructuring were carefully considered by management and the board to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the company. Mark Rourke, who has served as President and CEO since 2019, will take on the role of Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors and continue to contribute to Schneider’s strategic direction.
The new leaders expressed optimism about their future roles. Baumgardt emphasized the importance of collaboration in the intermodal and logistics sectors to provide added value to customers. Wells highlighted his intention to create a competitive advantage in the truckload sector with his expertise. Prill stated that she aims to build a team that enhances customer service and develops solutions that meet shippers‘ needs.
