TMAZ appoints new executives
Jun 10, 2026 at 12:17 PMSiemens Mobility has introduced the „Vectron X“ at the newly opened Rail Service Center in Munich-Allach, a digitized locomotive for freight and passenger transport. This locomotive is based on the „Vectron platform,“ which is in daily operation with nearly 3,000 units sold. According to a statement from Siemens, the „Vectron X“ combines this with new digital features, including app-based applications and open interfaces for third-party solutions.
Digital innovations for operations
The „Vectron X“ is characterized, according to the manufacturer, by a digital driver’s cab equipped with a smart screen. This enables „near real-time connectivity“ and offers features such as „TrainPlay“ as well as various app options designed to enhance the user experience and improve operational efficiency. According to Siemens, the locomotive is designed to adapt to future customer requirements and respond to different operating situations. Operators are expected to benefit from increased user comfort and better transparency, while data-driven applications and targeted maintenance contribute to optimizing operating costs.
The „Vectron X“ is part of Siemens‘ „Xcelerator portfolio,“ which serves as an open digital business platform. This platform connects rail vehicles, operations, services, and infrastructure, allowing for the integration of partner solutions. In addition to the introduction of the Vectron X, Siemens Mobility has opened the Rail Service Center in Munich-Allach, which is expected to triple the overhaul capacity at the site. This will lead to reduced processing times for Vectron customers in Europe.
