May 5, 2026 at 9:51 AMFourKites has introduced a new platform for automated booking of ocean freight called „Booking Connect for Ocean.“ This solution aims to optimize the booking process for global shippers by eliminating manual interventions. The platform is part of the „FourKites Intelligent Control Tower“ and offers automation in several areas traditionally handled by intermediaries, as the company states.
Automation through AI
Booking Connect integrates four key functions designed to make the entire booking process more efficient: First, contract management is automated through the capture and digitization of rate agreements. The platform converts rate information from ocean carriers into digital profiles that include base rates, surcharges, and other relevant fees. This allows shippers to directly compare their negotiated rates instead of relying on list prices.
Another essential aspect is the AI-driven selection of providers. „Booking Connect“ recommends transportation service providers based on various criteria such as cost or transit time. According to the company, these recommendations are transparently justified and include a cost breakdown as well as information on the expected transit duration. Administrators have the option to automatically execute bookings within predefined parameters, with the rules being input in natural language. Document management is also automated, managing the entire lifecycle from booking confirmations to customs clearance.
The exception management of Booking Connect monitors each booking through multiple phases. In the case of rejected bookings, alternative options are displayed, and rebooking occurs within the established rules. The platform also enables continuous tracking of shipments.
