Apr 30, 2026 at 6:46 AMThe Contship Group achieved positive business results in 2025, further advancing its growth strategy. According to the published annual report from EUROKAI, the group closed the year with a net revenue of EUR 293 million, representing an increase of 10.9% compared to the previous year. This development highlights the resilience of the integrated business model as well as the effectiveness of the strategic orientation.
Growth in the maritime and intermodal segment
In the maritime segment, led by the La Spezia Container Terminal, revenue growth was recorded, confirming the robustness of the operational model and the strategic significance of the Port of La Spezia within global logistics corridors. This achievement was accomplished despite temporary operational constraints, such as the partial closure of the Fornelli Pier for safety works and the redesign of global shipping alliances. To address these challenges, the terminal ensured operational continuity and effectively managed the transition phase, limiting the impact on overall cargo volumes to marginal levels. Concurrently, infrastructure developments were advanced, with preparatory work on the new Ravano Terminal—part of a comprehensive investment plan for modernization and capacity expansion—continuing.
In the intermodal segment, which includes Sogemar, Hannibal, Oceanogate, Rail Hub Milano, and driveMybox, the fifth consecutive year of operational growth was recorded. This confirms the strength of the group’s integrated model, despite the infrastructural challenges in the sector. This growth was also supported by new services and the strengthening of national and European connections.
The group’s structure was strengthened by the acquisition of the STS Group completed in June 2025, which expanded Contship’s customs services offering. The number of employees increased to 1,150 by the end of the year, attributed to new hires and the integration of 96 employees from the STS Group.
Sustainability strategy and future orientation
Throughout the year, Contship defined and launched the sustainability strategy „Moves That Matter,“ based on a dual materiality assessment. This strategy sets ambitious goals and increasingly integrates sustainability criteria into decision-making processes and drivers of business development.
Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of Contship, emphasized the importance of the operational launch at the Damietta Terminal as well as the initiation of expansion works in La Spezia in the second half of the year. He stated that these measures represent important drivers for the group’s growth and value creation. Additionally, Contship is actively exploring new opportunities that align with its long-term vision to further strengthen its position in strategic sectors.
For the future, the group plans to advance its digital transformation with targeted initiatives in artificial intelligence and predictive analytics aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer service. Contship’s strategic focus remains on sustainable, integrated growth, expanding capabilities along the logistics chain while maintaining direct control over key strategic assets. This is intended to strengthen resilience and solidify the competitive position in important European and global trade corridors.
