Ammonia to be tested as a ship fuel
Apr 23, 2026 at 10:52 AMLufthansa Technik Portugal has made progress in corporate development: With the appointment of Torsten Raabe as the new Managing Director, the receipt of the EASA Part-145 certification, and the opening of a second training and maintenance hall, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik is taking steps towards expansion, as the company reports. Additionally, the construction of a new site in Santa Maria da Feira, south of Porto, is imminent, where approximately 700 jobs are expected to be created on an area of 55,000 square meters.
Industry leader takes the helm
Torsten Raabe brings nearly three decades of experience from the Lufthansa Technik Group. His career began in logistics, and he has served in various leadership positions, including as CEO of Lufthansa Technik Sofia. Raabe takes the lead at a time when the company aims to significantly expand its capacities. A success for Lufthansa Technik Portugal in this context is the official certification as an „EASA Part-145 location.“ This approval allows the company to transition from training activities to certified maintenance work on aircraft components.
