Apr 14, 2026 at 7:24 AMSATS Ltd., a provider of air freight and logistics solutions based in Singapore, has expanded its support for Jazeera Airways, the leading low-cost airline in Kuwait. This is part of a new initiative that enables the airline to establish alternative air and land connections despite the closure of Kuwait International Airport. Jazeera Airways has set up two bases at airports in Saudi Arabia, including King Fahd International Airport in Dammam (DMM) and Qaisumah–Hafar Al-Batin International Airport (AQI).
The SATS station in Dammam, covering an area of 60,000 square meters, began handling air freight for Jazeera Airways on March 26, 2026. The transported goods include both general cargo and perishable items such as frozen meat, fruits, and vegetables. This air freight will be transported overland to Kuwait. The connection from Dammam complements the operations that started at AQI on March 11, 2026.
Expansion of operations
By operating at two airports in Saudi Arabia, Jazeera Airways has significantly expanded its operations. By May 15, 2026, the airline will offer 27 destinations and over 1,500 flights. These measures are part of Jazeera Airways‘ cross-border operating model, running under the codename Project Baraka. The aim is to address the needs of the community in Kuwait and support logistics during the current regional situation.
Bob Chi, CEO of SATS APAC Gateway Services, commented on the collaboration: “The SATS team is proud to support Project Baraka in partnership with Jazeera Airways. By transporting passengers and essential goods such as food and pharmaceuticals, we hope to maintain air freight connections to Kuwait during this challenging time.”
Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways, emphasized the importance of the partnership with SATS: “In light of the unprecedented operational challenges, Jazeera Airways has quickly established a cross-border air and land model that keeps Kuwait connected. Our collaboration with SATS is a crucial component of this initiative to ensure the uninterrupted flow of vital goods.”
SATS operates three cargo facilities in Saudi Arabia, including in the capital Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah. Additionally, the company has a cargo facility in Oman. These locations enable SATS to serve as an alternative access point to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries affected by air blockades. SATS is prepared to support the transport of emergency supplies from air hubs in Saudi Arabia and Oman.
