RAeS celebrates 160 years of aviation
Jan 12, 2026 at 3:13 PMIVECO has announced a new program in collaboration with PlusAI, a company specializing in AI-based software for autonomous trucks. The goal is to introduce heavy commercial vehicles with Level 4 Autonomous Driving in Southern Europe, as stated by Iveco. The initiative is being carried out in cooperation with the Spanish logistics company Sesé and the government of Aragon.
As part of the program, IVECO and PlusAI are developing two heavy trucks equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities, controlled by the „PlusAI SuperDrive™ software.“ Multi-year testing of the autonomous trucks is set to begin this year. During the testing phase, a safety operator will be on board the vehicles. The „IVECO S-Way trucks“ are intended to operate autonomously on freight routes between Madrid and Zaragoza. The route covers approximately 300 km.
Marco Liccardo, Chief Technology & Digital Officer of the Iveco Group, commented on the project as follows: “The automation of vehicles is a central component of the technology strategy of the Iveco Group. We are pleased to deepen our strong partnership with PlusAI to further develop our ADAS and ADS technologies in IVECO trucks. This project will support us on our journey to provide our customers with high-quality technologies for increasingly sustainable transport.”
