May 27, 2025 at 8:06 PMFor over 60 years, Caljan has been synonymous with innovative logistics solutions worldwide. The leading provider of telescopic belt conveyors for the loading and unloading of general cargo, conveyor technology, as well as automatic labeling and document handling systems, is strengthening its presence in the DACH region with the establishment of a new showroom and training center in Halle (Westfalen).
(Halle/Westf.) At the festive opening on May 14, Marvin Sommer, Managing Director of Caljan GmbH, welcomed employees and invited guests, including the Mayor of Halle, Thomas Tappe.
The location, which opened in the summer of 2022, has been steadily growing. In addition to production and administration, it also houses the global spare parts center (CSS) and a comprehensive service area that quickly and reliably supports customers in the DACH region and neighboring countries. Here, service technicians can be trained on the individual systems and areas for maintenance and repair work.
Central Sales and Service Center
“With the expansion of our activities, we are developing the Halle location into a central sales and service center for the DACH region and Europe. Here, we consolidate our expertise in the areas of labeling and loading and unloading of general cargo to offer our customers even more comprehensive and efficient solutions from a single source,” explained Sommer.
During the tour of the demonstration center led by Jan Sölling-Jörgensen, Regional Sales Director and project manager for the demo center, participants saw a presentation of the Caljan Classic telescopic belt conveyor for unloading packages from truck trailers or containers. Currently, over 23,000 of these conveyors are in use by parcel service providers and shippers worldwide. Subsequently, the packages moved over various roller and belt conveyors to a document handling system with a high-performance printer for accompanying documents, which were then automatically folded and applied to the packages.
Another station featured a high-performance labeling system with a capacity of up to 3,000 labels/hour, capable of printing and applying labels to various shipping goods. The live demonstration of the autoloader showcased the fully automatic loading of containers and swap bodies. The system operates fully automatically by first measuring the available loading space and then optimally stacking individual boxes or bags layer by layer, carefully stacking them on top of and beside each other – with a throughput of up to 3,500 packages per hour.
Innovation Meets Strong Partnerships
In addition to the current product range, innovative technology from the robotics sector will also be showcased in the future. This will make the Halle location a new center for Europe, where innovation meets strong partnerships and the future of logistics is shaped. “Here, our customers and partners can experience our innovations up close – and discover new possibilities for collaboration. Europe comes together in Halle, and with the big players in the logistics industry, we continuously bring the who’s who of our customers to Halle,” emphasized Sommer in his opening speech.
