Oct 11, 2022 at 5:28 PMQuantron AG offers innovative mobility solutions for environmentally friendly goods and passenger transport. The company from Augsburg not only supplies numerous European customers with battery and hydrogen electric commercial vehicles to sustainably reduce CO2 emissions, but also provides a 360° product & solution ecosystem around zero-emission mobility with Quantron-as-a-service.
(Augsburg) This business model will now be implemented by QUANTRON with CEO Richard Haas in the USA, along with plans to develop new commercial vehicle designs with BEV and FCEV drivetrains. Numerous inquiries from US fleet operators for these new technologies have supported the decision to expand to North America.
Based on its strategic partnership with Canadian fuel cell expert Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP), QUANTRON aims to become a pioneer in the segment of hydrogen-based emission-free long-haul vehicles in the USA. By 2025, QUANTRON aims to achieve around 50% of its revenue in the North American market, focusing heavily on hydrogen solutions for long-haul transports such as Class 8 trucks.
100 Vehicles in Operation in Europe
Michael Perschke, Board Member and CEO of Quantron AG: “The establishment of a subsidiary in the USA is an important step towards our goal of bringing emission-free vehicles to the roads worldwide. In Europe, nearly 100 vehicles converted by QUANTRON are already successfully in operation. We see potential in the USA for a three-digit volume annually in the first years. I am very pleased that Richard Haas, with his over 40 years of multicultural experience in the mobility industry, will join us as Managing Director and CEO of Quantron US.”
Before joining QUANTRON, Richard Haas was Managing Director and CEO of the automotive startup Mahindra Automotive North America, where he established a new assembly plant in the Detroit metropolitan area. Prior to that, he was Director of Engineering for the Tesla Model S and is a veteran of Ford Motor Company, including a five-year tenure at Ford South America, where he was part of a task force that included the launch of several new products in a greenfield assembly complex in northeastern Brazil.
Unique Opportunities
Richard Haas: “The opportunities at QUANTRON are unique and compelling in an industry dealing with new, non-IC technologies – particularly in the area of hydrogen fuel cell electric drives for medium and large commercial vehicles. I am honored and excited to be one of the first players in this field in the United States.”
Raymond F. Staples, Esq joins Andreas Haller (founder and chairman of QUANTRON) as co-founder of Quantron-as-a-service (QaaS) USA Inc. on the board to expand QaaS in North America. He will take on the role of Chairman of the Board at Quantron US.
High Demand in the USA for Alternative Drives
There is a high demand in the USA for vehicles with alternative drives. At the end of September 2022, the Biden administration announced a funding foundation of $8 billion to establish regional centers for clean hydrogen (H2Hubs) across the country, which will form a crucial branch of America’s future clean energy economy.
“These H2Hubs are a unique opportunity to lay the groundwork for the clean hydrogen future that President Biden is building – one that will boost our economy, protect the planet, and improve our health,” said US Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm.
Harnessing the Full Potential of Clean Hydrogen Energy
Andreas Haller, founder and chairman of Quantron AG: “QUANTRON is committed to advancing hydrogen infrastructure and vehicles with the best partners and the open Quantron-as-a-service ecosystem to harness the full potential of clean hydrogen energy for future generations.”
