Nov 26, 2021 at 7:32 PMArvato Supply Chain Solutions and the H&M Group today laid the foundation for the expansion of the distribution center in Stryków, Poland. The two partners, who have been collaborating in Poland since 2018, are extending their cooperation in the country for several more years. The expansion project is necessary to further strengthen a flexible capacity structure with fast process flows within the logistics region of Eastern Europe.
(Gütersloh/Stryków) The floor area will be expanded from 40,000 to 55,000 square meters by April 2022. This will increase the annual output volume by approximately 30 percent. Currently, online customers in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Slovakia are served from Stryków.
“We are very pleased to continue our trusted collaboration with the H&M Group,” says Lidia Ratajczak-Kluck, Managing Director of Arvato Supply Chain Solutions in Poland. “The decisive factor for our partner is the customer-oriented quality level of our services.” The contract extension also marks the start of the expansion of the distribution center in Stryków, which is expected to be completed in about six months. The logistics center will offer a total storage area of 75,000 square meters over two levels, including the mezzanine.
Further Construction Measures to Follow
With the completion of the high-bay warehouse and the expansion of the conveyor system to a total length of over 3.5 kilometers, further construction measures will follow shortly. The conveyor system is part of the necessary infrastructure to offer automated processes in the field of e-commerce logistics. This infrastructure also includes special sorting systems, autonomous industrial trucks, dynamic warehouse replenishment, and the modern ERP system SAP S4/HANA. With the expansion of the logistics center in Stryków, Arvato Supply Chain Solutions is also creating new jobs. “Once we are fully operational, we plan to employ 450 staff and expect to increase this number to up to 1,350 during peak order periods,” says Lidia Ratajczak-Kluck regarding the anticipated staffing needs.
Meeting the Demands of a Growing Customer Base in Eastern Europe
“Speed and flexibility in the supply chain are important, and this expansion will contribute to an even better customer experience,” says Michael Schulz, Regional Logistics Manager East Europe of the H&M Group. “With a partner like Arvato Supply Chain Solutions, we are excellently positioned to meet the demands of our ever-growing customer base in Eastern Europe in the future.”
