May 28, 2026 at 7:46 AMThe TX Logistik AG and Van der Vlist have developed a new solution for transporting oversized cargo on regular intermodal trains between Rostock and Verona. This initiative aims to facilitate the transportation of machinery and other large goods on existing rail connections, as the company reports. The first shipment included two mobile elevating work platforms, which were loaded at the Quadrante Europa terminal in Verona.
With this new rail solution, oversized units that previously required more complex transport planning can now be transported on scheduled intermodal connections, according to TX Logistik. This represents a step forward in positioning rail as a more flexible and scalable option for transport between Italy, Germany, and Northern Europe.
TX Logistik currently operates the route with eight trips per week. This is intended to provide customers with fast and flexible rail connections, which also offer onward transport options to Scandinavia. The two mobile elevating work platforms were transported by ferry to Trelleborg after their arrival in Rostock and subsequently delivered by truck to their final destination in central Sweden.
