Jun 4, 2026 at 9:53 AMThe prioritization of trustworthy relationships and the resilience of supply chains is at the center of the current discussion among procurement professionals. This was highlighted during an event by GenPro at the Posidonia conference. Maria Theodosiou (pictured), Managing Director of GenPro, emphasized that modern procurement and supply chain management goes far beyond cost reductions and should focus more on human interactions and partnerships, as stated by GenPro.
In her speech, Theodosiou pointed out the challenges facing the industry. These include disruptions in supply chains, geopolitical uncertainties, inflationary pressures, as well as regulatory changes and rising expectations in the areas of environmental, social, and governance (ESG). In such an environment, trust becomes an increasingly valuable asset. Theodosiou therefore called for greater transparency and closer partnerships throughout the entire supply chain.
The Managing Director acknowledged that pricing still plays a central role, but emphasized that factors such as availability, reliability, transparency, and accountability are of global importance for companies. She explained that procurement plays a key role in creating governance structures and resilience necessary to support supply chains. This enables organizations to make informed decisions, minimize risks, and maintain continuity even in times of crisis.
