Experience and Goals of the New Chief Supply Chain Officer
Kirk Tanner, President and CEO of the Hershey Company, spoke positively about Arends‘ appointment, emphasizing his ability to further develop Hershey’s supply chain. Tanner highlighted that Arends has the necessary experience in complex operations to build on the foundations laid by Reiman. Arends will take responsibility for Hershey’s integrated supply chain, including production, procurement, logistics, and planning. A key focus of his work will be accelerating digital integration and automation, as well as promoting data-driven planning.
During the transition period until the first quarter of 2027, Reiman will work with Arends on modernizing the supply chain, focusing on integrated planning and optimizing digital capabilities.
Reiman, who began his career as an intern at Hershey, has significantly contributed to the development of the supply chain. His achievements include building production capacity and integrating two fully digitized production facilities. He also established the network for salty snacks, which is now produced 80% in-house.
Arends commented on his new role, emphasizing the importance of talent development to create a future-ready supply chain. He sees the opportunity to build a supply chain for some of the world’s most recognized products as an exciting step in his career.
