The Polish capital Warsaw hosted the TIACA Executive Summit from June 1 to 3, 2026, one of the most significant events in the air freight industry. Over 350 executives from the global logistics and aviation sectors gathered to discuss the future of the air freight market. The event was organized by the International Air Cargo Association in collaboration with Port Polska and LOT Polish Airlines.
Discussions on challenges and opportunities
High-level debates, keynote speeches, and networking events addressed various topics shaping the industry. These included the growth of e-commerce, geopolitical changes, digitalization, sustainability, as well as the financial efficiency and resilience of global supply chains. A key component of the summit was the introduction of TIACA’s new Keynote Speaker Series, aimed at bringing fresh perspectives from leading communicators and thinkers in the business to the air freight community.
Dr. Filip Czernicki (photo), CEO of Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, emphasized the strategic importance of the event in Poland in his opening speech. “This is not only an honor but also a clear confirmation of Poland’s growing role in the international logistics system and our commitment to actively shaping the future of the freight market,” Dr. Czernicki stated. He highlighted that Warsaw is becoming an important venue for international discussions on the future of air freight and that the Central and Eastern European region is gaining strategic significance.
Vision for Cargo City
In his remarks, Dr. Czernicki presented the vision behind the Port Polska program and Cargo City, a planned integrated logistics and industrial system. This is intended to combine infrastructure for freight, a special economic zone, and a free trade area.
A central theme of the summit was the growing strategic role of Central and Eastern Europe in global supply chains, as well as the long-term development potential of the air freight market in the region. A panel discussion addressed the challenges and opportunities facing the air freight industry in Central and Eastern Europe. Participants pointed out that the economies of the region are expected to show above-average GDP growth in 2026 and 2027, providing a solid foundation for further expansion of the air freight sector.
Strategic investments in infrastructure
Paweł Zagrajek, acting director for commercial affairs at Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, commented on the opportunities and challenges of the regional freight market. “A new airport offers the unique opportunity to create a system that is fully tailored to the needs of air freight,” Zagrajek explained. He emphasized that despite the airport’s opening in six years, work is already actively underway to support industry growth.
The discussions in Warsaw highlighted the growing international interest in the region as a future logistics hub for Europe. Participants noted that the development of advanced freight infrastructure in the heart of Europe has the potential to significantly strengthen regional supply chains, improve connectivity in Central and Eastern Europe, and create new opportunities for global trade as well as the e-commerce and advanced manufacturing industries.
