May 26, 2026 at 11:15 AMThe christening of the new car transporter „Grande Svezia“ recently took place at the port of Wallhamn, Sweden. The ship belongs to the Grimaldi Group fleet and is designed for the transport of vehicles. It is equipped with the capability to use ammonia as an alternative fuel, as the company reports. This measure is part of the shipping company’s efforts to make its fleet more environmentally friendly.
The ship, scheduled for delivery in December 2025, will be deployed as part of the Grimaldi Group’s EuroMed service, which connects ports in the Mediterranean region and Northern Europe. The countries served include Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Cyprus, Morocco, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. According to Grimaldi, the port of Wallhamn, the only private port in Sweden, is managed by the Italian shipping company and plays a central role in this service.
